Oh, that's wonderful to know. I'll definitely go there first next time I'm flying to Florida. LaGuardia is the nearest airport and I'd not only get a good flight but save time and money too.

Thanks!

Hi Anne, not sure if you know, SWA now flies from LaGuardia. Not sure if you want to bother since we all know LGA's track record but if the price is right and you know the service will be great...

I'd LOVE to fly Southwest, but the airline doesn't fly from New York to Florida. Jet Blue is the next best thing and I will fly this airline whenever possible.

You're right: having access to a good airline with reasonable fares and above average service (both Southwest and Jet Blue) makes a big difference.

While I agree that airlines will be a huge determining factor for many with regards to choosing to fly to a port to cruise or no cruise, I think more and more people are also realizing the incredible value that can be found on Southwest Airlines who (by no coincidence I'm sure) offers significant flight service to 3 of Florida's major airports (Tampa, Orlando & Ft.Lauderdale) which are within a very convenient proximity to all 4 of Florida's major cruise ports (Tampa, Port Canaveral, Ft. Lauderdale & Miami). It takes an hour or less to drive to Miami or Port Canaveral cruise ports from these airports and ground transportation is very safe and easy to procure.

The $50 tax was levied by the State of Alaska ,not
Canada as you stated. The people of Alaska voted
this tax so that cities that have cruise traffic
will get funding for local improvements.
It has turned out that is money has gone do improvements
in communities that cruise passengers will never see.
