Carnival Cruise Lines has announced that starting May 18, 2010, the 2056-passenger Carnival Fantasy will sail year-round from Charleston, South Carolina. The ship previously sailed from Mobile and will be replaced by sister ship Carnival Elation.
Carnival Fantasy’s five-day voyages departing Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays will call at Nassau and Freeport, The Bahamas. Six-day voyages departing Saturdays will visit Freeport, Nassau and Key West, Fla. Seven-day voyages depart Saturdays and will feature Grand Turk, the private Bahamian island of Half Moon Cay, and Nassau.
While Carnival Fantasy entered service in the 1980’s, recent upgrades ensure the vessel continues to be a people pleaser. In addition to ship-wide Wi-Fi access and internet/cell phone service, recent enhancements include a Water theme park with 300-foot long water slide, an adults-only area upgrades in bedding.
From Mobile, Carnival Elation will sail on four- and five-day cruises plus one-week Western Caribbean voyages in spring, summer and fall 2010.

1 Comment Carnival Adds Year-Round Cruises from Charleston in 2010

1My family and others totaling 28 had planned a “graduation cruise” from Charleston in June 2010. Two families have cruised before with Carnival and highly recommeded the line to the rest of the group. We were initially told a deposit date of early November 2008, so as requested by our travel agent (who also recommended Carnival) we sent all the required information and credit card numbers. On the deposit date we were then told policy had changed and no deposit was needed until February 2010 and that our 12 cabins would be held. Now we are told that the deposit should have been made in November and even though Carnival has been able to identify the staff person helping our travel agent who gave the incorrect information, Carnival has offered us nothing as far as helping us with the cruise from Charleston or even an apology. They have only offered other cruises from ports we did not want at higher prices. For this almost first time cruiser, this has been a very big disappointment and although I have personally contacted the line, have yet to hear anything.
