Roughly 1,000 people will be evacuated from the Mona Lisa, an elderly cruise ship which ran aground off Latvia.  Chartered by a German company, the Mona Lisa is carrying 984 passengers and while there were no reports of injuries, the vessel’s Captain is taking the coast guard’s suggestion that passengers be brought ashore and flown home.

Built in 1966 as the Kungsholm for Swedish America Line and has previously sailed as P&O Cruises’ Sea Princess and later renamed Victoria.
