While it’s great to escape economic turmoil and bad news by running off to sea on a cruise ship, it would be 1000% better just to head for your own private island. After all, cruise lines own and lease island with idyllic beaches where a few hours ashore never seems long enough.

Best of all, prices start at $30,000, about the cost of a decent world cruise. As king/queen, president, emperor/empress, chancellor, prince/princess you can ban the talking heads on Fox and MSNBC, stock market reports and anything else that disrupts your peace of mind. And who knows, the island may pay for itself one day when a cruise line calls to lease it, bringing a few thousand visitors to your home each week.
