Norwegian Cruise Line is agressively entering the three- and four-day cruise market by positioning the reflagged, renamed Norwegian Sky on Bahamas cruises from Miami starting July 14, 2008. The ship originially sailed as the Pride of Aloha on year-round Hawaii cruises.
NCL kicks off the new season with a “Kids Sail Free” summer promotion for reservations on Norwegian Sky from May 6 to May 31, 2008 for sailings taking place July 14 to Sept. 26, 2008. Children ages six months to 17 are eligible to sail free although government taxes and fees and fuel supplements apply.
Norwegian Sky will depart Miami on Mondays sailing four-day b’ahamas cruises with full-day stops in Grand Bahama Island, Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay (NCL’s private island). On Fridays, the ship will sail a three-day weekend itinerary, departing Miami at 5 p.m. with stops in Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay, returning to Miami at 7 a.m. on Monday morning.
Originally launched in 1999, Norwegian Sky will undergo a refurbishment when a casino will be added to the ship.

1Avoid this ship like the plague, which is what you may get if you board her. My wife and I just, literally, returned from a 3-night cruise on the SKY. To say disaster is not giving enough emphasis. The Latitudes director, my wife and I are Gold level, could not apologize enough. The air-conditioning broke and had to be serviced in Nassau, in 100 degree temp, and then restarted. This proved to be quite a feat. Cagney’s, the specialty restaurant, was abyssmal. The service was unbelievably poor and the poor waiter couldn’t apologize enough about not being able to have the chef cook a filet to medium doneness. But praise needs to be given to the entire crew on this ship. They are trying harder than would be expected. A rumor was circulating that NCL is selling this ship at the end of the year and they added the casino to increase its marketability. If you are planning a trip or have booked a cruise on the SKY, rethink your decision and purchase a Spanish phrase book if you are not conversant in Espanol. BTW (By The Way) for those of you reading this thinking, Oh that must be a first time cruiser, my wife and I are Gold medallion holders on Holland America, Platinum on RCCL, and as mentioned before Gold on NCL.
