West coast travelers who have become bored with taking the same Mexico itinerary over and can hop aboard Royal Caribbean’s Mariner of the Seasfor a different experience. RCI’s 142,000-ton vessel, scheduled to sail year round from Los Angeles on one week Mexico voyages, is one of the largest cruise ships in the world.
Mariner of the Seas’ amenities such as a rock-climbing wall, an ice-skating rink, full size basketball and sports court, adults-only solarium, an inline skating track and enormous fitness center promise to keep passengers occupied by day. The interior Royal Promenade, a boulevard of shops, restaurants, bars and lounges stretching nearly the length of the ship, is fabulous for people watching and nightly carnival-like parades of performers, clowns and floats.
Sixteen bars and lounges plus myriad venues for a full range of entertainment and nightlife promise to keep adults entertained at night through the wee hours. For younger passengers, Royal Caribbean’s “Adventure Ocean” youth program offers scheduled activities throughout the day; teens have their own dedicated onboard areas including a teen disco and a private lounge.
Mariner of the Seas sails round-trip from Los Angeles on seven-day itineraries with port calls in Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan. For reservations and additional information contact your travel agent.

3I wish they would add a freedon class ship to Bayonne NJ. We pay more for cruises than people leaving out of Florida. And only have the Exporer of The Seas, it’s a nice ship but starting to show it’s age.

4Yes, I’m surprised RCI doesn’t have a newer ship sailing out of Cape Liberty…the port can certainly handle a larger vessel. Celebrity’s Summit will make a full season of one-week Bermuda cruises from Bayonne next year…at least it will be a new ship.

5What can you tell us about the youth programs? We have a son that will be almost 12. He doesn’t want to be with the babies,, but he is too young to be with 18 year olds Do they have a middle of the road program? What kind of activities?
Thanks

6Royal Caribbean’s 12-14 and 15-17 Teen groups give them the freedom to come and go as they please for sports, themed parties, movie nights and more. Teens can also meet up and chill out in the laid-back Living Room lounge, or cut loose at Fuel, our teen-only nightclub.
Here are specific activies for kids in the 12-14 age group: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/experience/html.do?exCode=613
My Family Time DiningSM offers Expedited Dining and Adventure Ocean Pickup Service, so kids can receive their meals within 40 minutes then join in on some onboard activities, while parents dine at their leisure.
