Travel & Leisure magazine annually polls readers about their favorite hotels, airlines, destinations and cruise lines. In the cruise categories, cruise lines are selected by category: large ship, small ship and river boats.
Here are readers picks for large ship cruise line. (Note: Crystal, Regent, Oceania & Azamara ships carry fewer than 1000 passengers and, in my opinion, shouldn’t be in this category)
1. Crystal Cruises
2. Regent Seven Seas Cruises
3. Oceania Cruises
4. Disney Cruises
5. Azamara Club Cruises
6. Cunard Line
7. Celebrity Cruises
8. Holland America
9. Royal Caribbean Cruises
10. Princess Cruises
Best Small Cruise Lines
1. The Yachts of Seabourn
2. Silversea Cruises
3. Lindblad Cruises
4. Sea Dream Yacht Club
5. Windstar Cruises
World’s Best River Cruises
1. Abercrombie & Kent
2. Avalon Waterways
3. Tauck

Perhaps that’s why the number of large ship winners was set at 10. Remove the “small ships,” and you’ve got the top five (or six, as the case may be), just like the other two categories.
But I’m not surprised by the results – all-inclusive lines tend to rank higher because of the benefits and services provided. If you’re looking for the best BARGAIN cruise line, however, Oceania ranks higher than RSSC or Crystal, IMHO.

3I agree… Oceania is right at the top! Plus, you don’t have to drag a tux along
