Cruises are NOT the luxury market!! You can take your entire family on a 7 day cruise, and pay a small fraction of what you would pay to take a 3 day trip to Disney! My family of 7 goes on a cruise each year as our family vacation (which is also the kids' Christmas gift). We will NEVER go to Disney because our kids can have just as much fun on a cruise for less than half of the cost of Disney. We always go with Carnival, and the always a ship that is no older than 5 years old.

So, with that said, I highly recommend a cruise for anyone or any couple, or any group, or any family!

Keep in mind that Kayak does not search some low-cost airlines, like Southwest. You must go directly to their website to find their fares.

I'm surprised that the cruise industry as a whole is doing well and occupancy remains high, although profits are lower because of fuel costs. More people are sailing from ports close to home instead of flying to take a ship.

Cruising is really at the luxury end of the market and as such it is not likely to be affected by market conditions.

People will find money for these type goods and they do.
