Harry.....my hat off to you! It's tough to cut back on food, and yes, Carnival's pizza is nearly irrestible! I can bypass bread, pasta and rice but thank God carnival had sugar-free cake...I was able to get through it.

After working hard to lose nearly 40 pounds in the past 5 months, I made a conscious effort to not pack 'em on with a 5 night cruise in September. It was a good test run for my 8-night cruise to Acapulco, set for Jan. 1.

My strategy? Pick your vices.

I'm not a dessert person, but give me steak or seafood, and I am there.

A big way to avoid the calories was to dodge any kind of bread -- including pizza (and keep in mind this was Carnival and its great pizza). I allowed myself one trip to the pizzaria for the trip. That was it.

At dinner, the wait staff is so quick to offer you bread. Said "no" to that.

But I did say "yes" to two entrees occasionally. But I would just nibble at the starch side (rice, potatoes, etc). At lunch, I avoided anything fried, but went for the entree grilled. A salad also filled me up.

I just picked my calories -- no mashed potatoes, but give me that prime rib. No rolls, but that volcano cake looks good.

I still gained a couple pounds, but I was not faced with a mega "morning after cruise" hangover when I got back.

Cruises + food = fun "roll" with fun of the cruise
You can work off the sinning and grinning later Dance a little take walking or swimming tours this might ease the guilty feeling you might be having. Raise a toast to life and live a little! Heck you are on a cruise YA!!

This is definitely something that I should keep in mind when one day I too would board a cruise ship.

Merry Christmas to you Anne, and to all your readers. Congratulations with a very successful start of this blog.
